Descartes Coffee

Here is another shot from the NAP 2007 meet-up in Chicago. This is Descartes Coffee on Michigan Avenue, not far away from where I was staying. I went in a couple of times for my espresso fix. They weren't great, but better than the ubiquitous Starbucks just about every block.

One thing about the meet-up and all those photographers in attendance was just about every time I turned around there was a camera pointed in my general direction. Try as I might, it was just impossible to avoid having my picture taken. Brandon Stone just posted a shot of me that I quite like. Check it out. :-)

You can see other's photos in our NAP 2007 Flickr group.

Listening to "Feed the Tree" by Belly

"It has happened suddenly,
by surprise, in an arbor,
or while drinking good coffee,
after speaking, or before,

that I dumbly inhabit
a density; in language,
there is nothing to stop it,
for nothing retains an edge.

Simple ignorance presents,
later, words for a function,
but it is common pretense
of speech, by a convention,

and there is nothing at all
but inner silence, nothing
to relieve on principle
now this intense thickening. "
