The previous image showed us walking across a field. We were headed for the wall of the canyon, looking for a cave believed used by the local Mimbres tribe. On the wall of the cave were several pictographs. The Mimbres tribe was a branch of the larger Mogollon culture, living in the area around 1000 years ago. More on the Mimbres later.

I am fascinated with rock art, and the ancient cultures that created it. I look forward to seeing more on the Mimbres. Such a great sense of history.

You found an ancient civilization? Wow. Is that a real pictoragh from years ago or a newer "rendition" I wonder.

An interesting capture of this historic writing. Apparently the area is open (unprotected) to be photographed. Nice shot.
